Abdelkrim Ghattas, born on April 8, 1945, in Casablanca, is a highly representative contemporary Moroccan painter. His artistic journey began in 1964 at the School of Fine Arts in Casablanca. Painting became his chosen mode of expression, reflecting his emotions and thoughts using artistic material.

As an abstract-figurative painter, Ghattas is known for his unpredictability and spontaneous urge to paint. In a remarkable instance, he created a captivating mural on a wall using broom handles.

In 1968, Ghattas traveled to Paris and studied at the National School of Fine Arts, expanding his artistic horizon. His talent and artistic vison gained recognition through international exhibitions in Paris, Marly-le-Roi, and Nice.

Since 1972, Ghattas has been teaching at the School of Fine Arts in Casablanca. He is a member of the Moroccan Association of Plastic Arts (A.M.A.P) and has participated in numerous cultural and artistic events, creating murals in Asilah, Agadir, Casablanca, and Salé.

Ghattas’ art has a universal dimension and has been exhibited in different regions such as Rabat, Baghdad, Vhile, Algeria, and Kuwait. His connection to his hometown, Casablanca, is profound, and he has organized several exhibitions there, including support for noble causes like the fight against AIDS.

Despite his achievements, Ghattas continues to nurture his artistic talent. His refined and cosmopolitan artistic style merges the personal and the universal, solidifying his place in the history of Moroccan art.
