OUR STORY

The Ramzi and Saeda Dalloul Art Foundation (DAF) is a Beirut-based cultural institution home to an extensive collection of modern and contemporary visual art from the Arab World. DAF is a custodian of around 3,000 artworks comprising different media, such as: painting, drawing, print, photography, ceramic, sculpture, tapestry, and installation.

The collection includes works created by artists from across the Levant, North Africa, and the Arabian Peninsula; it was compiled by late Dr. Ramzi Dalloul and his wife Saeda Al-Husseini starting in the1970s. In 2016, Dr. Basel Dalloul, their eldest son, took on the mission of safeguarding the collection and expanding it. He founded DAF in Jan 2016.

Today DAF's mission encompasses preservation, documentation, archiving, publication, research, exhibitions, and cultural events, all aimed at making Arab art accessible to both local and international audiences. DAF's extensive database and research capabilities provide vital resources for researchers and students, facilitating deeper exploration into Arab art's history and evolution. Its expansive website https://dafbeirut.org/, launched in 2020, acts as a digital reference for Arab art. This online presence reflects DAF's dedication to disseminating knowledge and engaging a broader audience.

The foundation assumes the role of a cultural mediator and stands as a beacon of knowledge underlining the importance of art as a tool for understanding and appreciating the complexities of the Arab world. DAF supports international cultural and art exhibitions, as it has supported the Lebanese Pavilion at Biennale Arte 2022 and then at Biennale Arte 2024 for which DAF will be loaning several artworks for the exhibition organized by the Curator Adriano Pedrosa.
