Amani Al-Thuwaini, a Kuwaiti artist and designer, was born in Ukraine in 1989. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Architecture from Kuwait University, a pivotal experience that instilled in her a methodical approach to gathering information and a keen eye for detail in her artistic endeavors. In 2017, Al-Thuwaini furthered her academic journey, completing her Master of Fine Arts (MFA) at Goldsmiths, University of London. Her remarkable talents were acknowledged when she was shortlisted for the Warsteiner BLOOOM Award in 2017, and the following year, she had the privilege of participating in the International Designer's workshop at the V&A Museum in London.

Al-Thuwaini's creative reach extends across London and Kuwait, and her artwork has also graced exhibitions in Prague, Dubai, Brazil, and Bolivia. Her career has been as diverse as her talents, encompassing roles as an architect, educator, interior designer, content creator, and visual merchandiser. Continually pushing the boundaries of multidisciplinarity, Al-Thuwaini explores the intersections of art, craft, and design.

Al-Thuwaini's unique cultural identity, shaped by her Kuwaiti and Ukrainian heritage, serves as a wellspring of inspiration for her work. This dual heritage grants her a distinctive perspective, allowing her to see through the lens of the "other." She consciously takes on the role of a spectator, meticulously observing, analyzing, and absorbing the multifaceted elements that shape cultural identities. Employing an interdisciplinary approach, Al-Thuwaini weaves together individual and collective narratives with symbols that invite diverse cultural interpretations.

Amani's art reveals the junctures where identities intersect, shedding light on often overlooked behaviors and rituals. Her work delves into themes of luxury and socio-politics, particularly relevant to Kuwait and the Gulf region. Al-Thuwaini employs mixed media and two-dimensional forms to expose this cultural collision, incorporating elements of modernism, superficial display, commodity fetishism, and gender dynamics. The resulting works offer a candid response to the commodification and transformation of traditions and customs, presenting hybrids that reflect a more globalized ritual.
