Fatima Al Zahra'a Shbair is a Palestinian photojournalist based in Gaza City. As a self-taught photographer, Fatima is driven by a deep passion for capturing the intricate stories, cultures, and social issues of her community. Initially pursuing a degree in business administration at Al-Azhar University in Gaza, she made a shift to journalism in 2019, focusing on photojournalism through independent study and hands-on experience.

Her work began to gain prominence in 2020, as she received assignments from renowned international agencies such as Getty Images and The New York Times. During this period, she documented the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine amidst the global pandemic, which severely impacted her own community.

Currently, Fatima contributes to Everyday Middle East and continues her collaboration with Getty Images. Her photography has been showcased in exhibitions across Palestine, the UAE, London, and Paris. As a woman working in a predominantly male-dominated field in the conservative society of Gaza, Fatima navigates significant challenges with resilience and determination. Her work not only highlights the struggles and strengths of her community but also represents a bold stand for female photojournalists in her region.
