Emirati artist Hussain Sharif, born in Dubai, is renowned for his contributions to the art scene in the UAE. Sharif's diverse body of work encompasses painting, drawing, collage, and installation, and he is recognized as a pioneering figure in Emirati art. In 1980, the artist, alongside his brother Hassan Sharif, co-founded the Emirates Fine Art Society in Sharjah, where they started supporting the arts scene in the UAE.

Hussain Sharif pursued studies at the High Institute of Kuwait, graduating with a degree in theatre design in 1986. Following his studies, he assumed the role of Head Designer at Sharjah TV while concurrently showcasing his artworks across the United Arab Emirates.

Central to Sharif's artistic exploration is a deep engagement with Emirati identity, often utilizing materials sourced from the streets to address the socio-political and economic changes his region has witnessed since the mid-1970s. Sharif's creations epitomize a form of expression characterized by a methodical and determined approach, often pushing the limits of the physically defined "object."

Hussain’s artistic journey has taken him to various exhibitions in his homeland as well as internationally, including Russia, Holland, France, Egypt, and Germany.
