Matteo El Khodr, born in Beirut in 1986, is a self-taught countertenor, painter, and actor, who gained significant recognition for his distinctive voice. Early on, his parents noticed his love for the arts and enrolled him in piano and painting lessons, nurturing his passion further.

In 2004, El Khodr moved to Paris after signing an exclusive contract with Universal Music France. He began his formal music education at the prestigious École Normale de Musique, aspiring to become an opera singer. During this time, he attended masterclasses with renowned instructors such as Michel Piquemal and Andreas Scholl, who greatly influenced his development as a countertenor.

Simultaneously, his father encouraged him to continue his architecture studies, a field he had started at the Lebanese University before moving to France. Between 2005 and 2006, El Khodr also explored the fashion industry, working as an assistant buyer. This experience connected him with key figures in fashion, expanding his professional network.

El Khodr’s artistic talents extend beyond music. He appeared in the Lebanese romantic comedy Khabsa (2018), and the TV series Shatti Ya Beirut (2021). His fame grew even more when he auditioned for The Voice France in 2020, where his unique talent reached a wider audience.

Despite his international success, he has always held a deep love for Lebanon, which he expresses through his paintings. After returning to Beirut just before the first COVID-19 lockdown in 2020, he rekindled his passion for painting. This led to his first solo exhibition, Lebanon in Painting, in March 2024, exhibited at Kalim Art Space. This exhibition, featuring 20 acrylic-on-canvas paintings depicting various regions of Lebanon, was deeply influenced by the patriotic fervor he felt during the 2020 Lebanese uprising, in which he was an active participant. This blend of music, visual arts, and acting has made El Khodr a multifaceted and celebrated artist on the international stage.
