Born in Paris and currently based in Tunis, Mouna Siala Jemal is a versatile visual artist with a PhD in Arts and Art Sciences from the University of Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne.
Mouna's art uniquely integrates digital, virtual, and real elements, driven by her commitment to preserving the memory of actions, events, and experiences. Her work intricately weaves her personal history with her artistic practice, reflecting themes of her triplets, her female body, and the socio-political events of her country. Her perspective transitions seamlessly from the intimate and particular to the general and objective.
Mouna has contributed to several significant projects and exhibitions, including "Non à la division," a book and photo exhibition, and her participation in the Instants Vidéos de Marseille. She represented Tunisia at the “Lumières d’Afrique” exhibition during COP21 and showcased a photo-installation at the 2016's Dak'Art Biennale.
The artist co-curated the Tunisian Pavilion at Dak'Art 2018, and her recent participation includes See Djerba
and the first Biennale de Rabat, with "Ulysse de la Hafsia", currently on display at the Center Frac Val de Loire. Mouna's work has been featured in numerous exhibitions across France, Germany, Spain, Belgium, Algiers, Bamako, Dakar, Geneva, Casablanca, Kolkata, Los Angeles, New York, and Tunisia.
