NADIA SAFIEDDINE, Lebanon (1973)
Bio
Born in 1973 in Dakar, Senegal, Nadine Safieddine studied painting at in the Institute of Fine Arts at the Lebanese University in Beirut in 1997. Known for overlapping thick layers of paint, with thick brushstrokes, Safieddine produces a painting, balancing between figuration and abstraction. More precisely, she worked on the illustration of intriguing figures, which are hard to recognize. Blurring the boundary of the genders, the painter conceives these figures more like the manifestation of an inner-state, sometimes turning into vast imaginary landscapes. Safieddine quickly has acquired an exposure in the region, participating in different group exhibitions in Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, and in Europe, by her contribution to many projects in Estonia, and in France. Being member of the Federal Association of Visual Artists (BBK) since 2007, Nadia Safieddine lives and works between Berlin and Beirut.
