Born in Sidon, Lebanon, Omar El Lahib studied Fine Art at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf in Germany, before settling in Cologne with his family.
El Lahib challenges the common misconception about darkness, asserting that it reveals rather than conceals. In his nocturnal scenes, vibrant trees, textured foliage, and luminous bioluminescence envelop his figures, which exude contemplation and resilience. His expansive paintings fluctuate between representation and abstraction, employing light and color with a focused, personal touch. In Omar’s work, scenes, figures, and moods are arranged akin to a dreamlike composition.
His recent exhibition at Chi K11 ArtMuseum in Shanghai showcases his evocative work, demonstrating his ability to captivate audiences with his unique vision.
