Selim Mawad is a Lebanese-Australian visual artist and advocate for human rights and peace, boasting over two decades of dedicated experience in these fields. His journey began with the founding of the Sustainable Democracy Center in Beirut, Lebanon, where he served as CEO from 2002 to 2011.

Transitioning from Lebanon to the Great Lakes Region of Africa, Selim assumed the role of head of mission for Impunity Watch from 2011 to 2014, further solidifying his commitment to combating injustice and promoting peace in conflict-stricken area.

Today, Selim operates as an independent consultant, using his expertise to tackle political and human rights issues across the globe. With a master's degree in interior architecture from the Lebanese Academy of Fine Arts (ALBA), Selim intertwines his passion for human rights with artistic expression. Through paintings, sketches, comic books, and articles, he shares poignant narratives gleaned from his extensive experiences on the ground.

Selim has sharpened his skills in managing and implementing human rights, citizenship, and peace-building programs, specializing in youth empowerment, advocacy campaign design, and research coordination. His analytical acumen, coupled with his ability to foster teamwork and make decisive decisions, has made him a respected figure in conflict and post-conflict settings across the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America.
