Annual exhibit for the sale of art works benefiting the project, “Women and Work”

We are pleased to invite you to the art exhibit “Bread and Roses,” organized by the Workers Advice Center (WAC-MAAN) and its partners in the project, “Women and Work”: Etgar, Hanitzotz Publishing House and Sindyanna of Galilee.

WAC is known today for its work at the grass-roots level helping advance fair employment for Arab women in Israel.

As in years past, all income from “Bread and Roses” (except the 25% mentioned below) will be dedicated to social and cultural activities within the framework of the project, “Women and Work.”

At the center of this WAC project stands our intensive campaign to place Arab women in organized jobs. In addition, WAC conducts courses in professional training as well as empowerment and self-expression.

“Bread and Roses” will feature a great range of works at a variety of prices, high and low. Last year’s exhibit (November 2007) was a big success, reaping in $80,000. We shall be glad to receive your help toward making this year’s a success as well.

Participating artists include Aram Gershoni, Michal Halbin, Ofer Lalouche, Tal Matzleakh, Ohed Maromi, Michal Ne’eman, Assad Gazi, Eli Petel, Ziva Tsirkaski, Philippe Rantzer, and Hen Shaish.

As a gesture of gratitude for the contribution, 25% of each sale will go to the artist.

At the exhibit, you will be able to survey a wide variety of quality art and purchase some, which—apart from the inherent value—will be toward a good cause: the principle that all human beings are equal and that it is still possible to halt the ethnic and class polarization that afflicts Israeli society.
