Bio
Sueraya Shaheen was born in Beirut, Lebanon, in 1965. She received her BFA from the Corcoran College of Art and Design in Washington, D.C. During her university years, Shaheen was fascinated by visual artists and used to visit them in their studios and photograph them. She then decided to develop this hobby and made it a focal point in her art practice. Shaheen would discover artists through lectures, exhibitions, or simply studio-visits and photograph them, eventually building a massive archive including prominent Lebanese painter Ayman Baalbaki and French-Tunisian street artist el Seed. Shaheen currently lives and works between New York and Dubai.
