Huguette Caland is a Lebanese artist and painter, daughter of the Republic’s first post-independence President, Bechara El Khoury. She studied at the American University of Beirut, it was there she started her embroidered hand painted gowns, the caftans that would become her signature style. She held her first exhibition in 1970 and then in various exhibitions between Paris, Los Angeles and Lebanon recently in 2018, at the Jeanine Rubez gallery, where she exhibited a new spontaneous artistic collection.

“Waraa Al Wojooh” is an immensely successful show that featured intimate worldwide interviews. It was both produced and hosted by Ricardo Karam. Adopting the face-to-face formula was a calculated smart move that allowed him to probe his subjects in greater depth.
