Tate conservator Rachel Barker travels to Beirut to help preserve paintings damaged by electricity curfews and changing temperatures.

Art conservators go to great lengths when fulfilling their roles. Here Rachel Barker is interviewed at a temporary conservation studio she has set up in Saloua Raouda Choucair's apartment in the middle of Beirut, where the artist's collection of work is stored. Barker talks us through the impact of this environment and the conservation work she must do in order to stabilise seven oil paintings, so that they can travel safely to London and be exhibited at Tate Modern.
