HAZEM HARB, Palestine (1980)
Bio
Hazem Harb was born in Gaza, Palestine, in 1980. He began his studies in his native country and received a diploma in Illustration and Children’s Books Design in 2003. In 2005, Harb moved to Rome, where he studied at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma, Italy, and completed a BA at The European Institute of Design in visual arts.
A visual artist, Hazem works address his Palestinian identity, investigating the issues of diaspora, shifting borders and the consequences of displacement. In a research-driven approach, he re-purposes historical elements within his contemporary production. By inserting old photographs and archived material into his works in a unified composition, Harb asserts the continuous existence of his people both physically and culturally, though past and present times. The artist currently lives and works between Rome and Dubai (UAE).
